It can reduce difficulty of image production but it can also damage trust. Young people are already less interested in photographs. They prefer drawing and manga because it is not reality. But photography has always had a complicated relationship with realism. While AI is used freely, photography as a visual strategy for learning (not as a hobby or as art) is increasingly being policed and regulated by concerns about portrait rights and 'permission'. The future of communication in Japan will not be photographic. And photography will cease to be a democratic tool. |

Application of AI is for brainstorming and speeding up survey research. AI models are not good at reading images. Gemini is OK but lacks knowledge that is best found in non-digitized books. The question above appears to be targeted at wanting to know how scientific fields improve. The arts can only deal with the consequences of the AI tools. The freedom to do that is being limited, or even replaced by other fields not choosing to collaborate with the arts. |
